Sir Richard Powell Cooper (21 September 1847 – 30 July 1913) was a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and head of an agricultural chemical manufacturing company. He was nephew of William Cooper who established 'Cooper and Nephews' at Berkhamsted in 1852, which business he inherited on his uncle's death in 1885. The business was later merged and became Cooper McDougall Robertson Ltd. The firm manufactured chemicals and exported pedigree live stock. Richard Cooper achieved a great reputation as a breeder of shorthorn cattle and Shropshire sheep. He rendered great service to the Argentine Republic by supplying it with British livestock. He lived at Shenstone Court, Staffordshire, and was High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1901 and Deputy Lieutenant of that county. In 1905 he was created 1st Baronet Cooper of Shenstone Court (see Cooper baronets).
